Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Eugene Lee and Ruth Owen Moore.
Mrs. Bowers retired from Furman University as an assistant librarian and was a member of Reedy River Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sister Daisy E. Moore of Seminole, Fla., and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by brothers, William Leo, Eugene Lee, Jr. and Charles Vivian Moore; and sisters, Violet Beheler, Iris Tapp, and Camellia Sue Loggins.
The funeral service will be 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2009, at Reedy River Baptist Church. Visitation will be prior to the service at the church from 2 to 2:45 p.m.
Burial to follow in the church cemetery with the Esther Sunday School Class serving as honorary escorts.
