REXBURG - Zoe M. Merrill, 87, died January 18, 1996, at the Rexburg Nursing Center of natural causes.
She was born June 15, 1908, at Franklin to John Alfred Anna Dorthea Miller Morrison. She was one of nine children. She was raised in Preston and graduated from Preston High School. She immediately began teaching in elementary schools. She loved teaching and taught for over 30 years in southeastern Idaho. She received a bachelor's of science degree from Brigham Young University.
On August 17, 1932, she married Donald Preston Merrill in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
She was an active member of the LDS Church. She and her husband had served a LDS mission in Alaska. She had also worked in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ and usually played the organ for her church. She also enjoyed attending cultural events at Ricks College. She loved flowers, traveling and participating in the Book Lore Club of Rexburg.
Survivors include her husband of Rexburg; four children, Preston M. Merrill of Orem, Utah, Alice Ann Merrill of Las Vegas, Karole Lyn (Robert) Morrell of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Jeanne (Mark) Gehmlich of Salem; three brothers, Oliver Morrison of Salt Lake City, John Morrison of Layton, Utah, and Calvin Morrison of Boulder City, Nev.; two sisters, Anna Spencer of Las Vegas and Radia Bell of Riverdale; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a sister, Luey and two brothers, Preston and Rola.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Rexburg LDS 15th Ward Chapel, 166 S. 1 E., with Bishop Kendell Nielsen officiating. Burial will be in Sugar City Cemetery.
