"MRS. LELIA M. COWLING DIES"
"Mrs. Lelia M. Cowling, one of Gulfport's best known women, died at her home on east beach in Gulfport this morning at 7:30 o'clock. She was born in Columbiana, Ala.,
51 years ago and was the widow of Hugh Cowling, whose death preceded hers about 15 years. Her life has been one of usefulness and service, she being at all times ready and willing to serve others. Since girlhood she has been a member of the Baptist church and was a prominent church worker is the First Baptist church in Gulfport. For (a) number of years she was superintendent of the primary department in the Sunday School besides being engaged in other work in the church. The deceased was the mother of three children, two sons and a daughter, who all reside in Gulfport. They are: Murrell, W. G. and Ide Lea(sic) Cowling. Miss Ide(sic) was away at school in Battle Creek, Mich., at the time of her mother's death but arrived in the city at 1:30 this afternoon. The father, W. G. Parker, who resides at Columbiana, (Ala.,) is in the city. L. Cowling, the brother-in-law, who resides at Elmore, Ala., is also at the home. Dr. E. C. Parker and J. R. Hill of Gulfport are brothers of the deceased and Mrs. Rachael Milner is a sister. The funeral services will be held from the residence on east beach tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock. Dr. W. C. Grace and Rev. Theo. Whitfield will conduct the services and burial will be made at Evergreen cemetery. Another good woman has gone to receive her reward for faithful services rendered."
