My great grandmother, Mary G. Amey made the Mother's Pilgrimage to France to visit the gravesite of her son Earle Amey who died in WWI. Although I do not know if she sailed on the ship the President Harding from the USA, records do show she sailed from Cherbourg, France to New York back home on August 27, 1930 on that ship. I remember my mother telling me there had been a bad storm on the farm sometime before she was scheduled to leave. She considered not going because of tha damage to the farm and work to be done. But family members advised her to keep her plans to go because it would be her only chance to visit his gravesite so she did go with other mothers who had lost their sons on the trip.
