Mrs. Martin Rappel, 83, of 1324 South 11th street, Manitowoc, died early Wednesday after a several years illness.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at the Mittnacht funeral home, Manitowoc, and at 9:30 at St. Boniface Catholic church. The Rev. Earl Brouchoud will officiate and burial will be in Calvary cemetery, Manitowoc.
She was born Mary Seidl in Franklin in 1868 and in 1887 was married to Mr. Rappel. They located on a farm in Rockland and also operated a tavern at Quarry from 1909 until 1912. In 1923 the couple moved to Manitowoc. Mr. Rappel died in 1930 and in recent years Mrs. Rappel resided with a daughter, Mrs. Guy Kelnhofer, of Manitowoc. She was a member of St. Ann CMA society of St. Boniface congregation.
Survivors are five sons, Gilbert, of Rockland, William and Joseph of St. Nazianz, Fredric of Manitowoc and Oscar of Sheboygan; two daughters, Mrs. Kelnhofer of Manitowoc and Mrs. Charles Hlavachek of Sheboygan Falls; brother, John of Manitowoc; sister, Miss Frances Seidl of Manitowoc; 28 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral home after Thursday noon where the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday.
