William, was raised by, stepmother, Mary Margaret Campbell Stroud.
William, grew up with four half siblings, two brother's, Charles Columbus "Lum" & Andrew Milton, two sister's, Missouri Stroud Holt Glispey, & Mary Jane Stroud Samsel.
William Tom Stroud was born, February 5, 1858 and, passed away at the home of his son, Sam, near Fair Play, June 21, 1938. He was 89 years, 4 months, and 10 days of age.
Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, he came to Missouri when only a year old and, spent the remainder of his days in Missouri.
He was married to Martha Ann Nelson in 1885. To this union nine children were born: John & Aleck of, Norborne, Andrew of, Braymer, Sam & Bert of, Fair Play, & Nannie Scurlock of, Bolivar survive. Preceding him in death, are, Iva, Shelton, and Florence.
Also, surviving are 32 grandchildren & 7 great-grandchildren: two brother's, & one sister, Mary Jane Samsel & Lum of Stockton and, Andrew of, Oklahoma.
"He will be greatly missed by all. A loving one from us has gone, a voice we loved is stilled; a place is vacant in our home, which never can be filled"
