Rites on Saturday for Shelton Marine

Services will take place Saturday for Marine Lance Cpl. George Herbert Tierney, Jr., 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Tierney Sr., of 70 Hill Street, who died Thursday in Edgewater Park hospital, Berlin, N.J. a few hours after he was in an auto accident in Gloucester, N.J.

Cpl. Tierney attended St. Joseph's school, Fairfield Preparatory school and Georgetown university. He was an Eagle Scout and member of Troop 3 and Post 33, Derby. He entered the Marine Corp in October 1965 and was currently stationed at the Philadelphia Naval Base.

Survivors, in addition to his parents are a sister, Mrs. Beverly Mathews of Shelton and a niece and a nephew.

Services will be conducted at 9:45 a.m. in the Shelton Memorial funeral home, 241 Coram avenue and at 10 o'clock in St. Joseph's church. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery.
