Last Rites for Former Bank of Ava President
Graveside services for Mrs. Sallie Joe Adams , 87, president of the Bank of Ava when it closed in 1932, were conducted last Friday at the Ava Cemetery. Services were held at the Grace Episcopal Church in Jefferson City prior to burial here.
Mrs. Adams was the daughter of Samuel and Sarah Lyons Turner and was born at Arno in Douglas County on Feb. 9, 1874. She was married in 1897 to J Morgan Adams.
Mrs. Adams died Wednesday, Oct. 4, st the home of a daughter, Mrs. Elinor Kavanagh in Jefferson City, where she had lived for 26 after moving from Ava.
She is survived by another daughter, Florence Herr of Tulsa; one grandson and three great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church.
