In November, 1901, she was united in marriage with John Abuhl. They lived on the home place two miles north of Elkhart until 1909 when they moved to Elkhart. Mr. Abuhl passed away in 1929.
Always active in church activities, she led the choir for many years. She was junior Supt. for several years and in 1916 she was made a life member of the CWBM. She had no children of her own but always had great concern and interest in the lives of her nieces and nephews and was always lending a helping hand to the young ministers who started their ministerial careers at the Elkhart Church.
She married Walter Young of Ankeny in 1930. Mr. Young passed away in 1934. She then spent the winters in California.
In 1940 she was united in marriage to Willis Ballard. They built a new home in Elkhart in 1952 and lived there until Mr. Ballard's death in 1956.
Mrs. Ballard then moved to Long Beach, California, where she lived until last May when she decided to live at the Friendship Home at Fort Dodge.
She had not been very well for the past two months and entered the hospital the middle of February where she suffered a heart attack February 20, and passed away February 21.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday at two o'clock at the Elkhart Christian Church, with Rev. Wayne R. Ward and Rev. Conley Biddle officiating. Organ music was provided by Mrs. Verle Myers, with Don Myers as soloist.
Pall bearers were Dorus Burgess, Harlan Keller, Fred Higginbottom, Doyle Watson, Eldon Keller, Richard Higginbottom. Burial was at Lincoln Cemetery at Alleman.
