MAXINE LEWIS MORGAN, 82 years of age of Vansant, Virginia, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012 at the Buchanan General Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Jenkins, KY, she was the daughter of the late George M. and Letha M. Honaker Lewis. She was a member of the Vansant Church of Christ and was retired from the Grundy Drug Store. She was a strong supporter of the American Cancer Society and a 1947 graduate of Grundy High School.
Mrs. Morgan is survived by her twin brother – Max and his wife Loraine Lewis Grundy, VA, One sister – Betty Jo Vandyke, Santee Cooper, SC, One sister-in-law – Ivris Lewis, Vansant, VA, One nephew – Mike and his wife Sheron Lewis, Grundy, VA
Four nieces – Patty and her husband John Lucas, Maxine and her husband Gary Morris, Ginger and her husband Jerry Merritt and Melinda Lewis, One Niece-in-law – Angie Wyatt Vansant, Virginia
Nine Great and Great-great nephews – Kelvin Michael Lewis, Chandler Lewis, Todd Vandyke, Maverick Coleman, Ryan Keen, Ian Shortridge, Drew Morris, Tyler Morris and Hunter Vandyke.
Eight Great and Great-great nieces – Teresa Coleman, Erica Coleman, Megan Vandyke Newberry, Melanie Lewis Rubin, Antonia (An'-to-ne'-ah) Keen, Leia Shortridge, and Emma Grace Vandyke.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George M. and Letha M. Honaker Lewis, her former husband – F. E. Morgan Jr., - and one nephew – Jerry Vandyke.
Funeral services for MAXINE LEWIS MORGAN, will be conducted Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 1:00 P. M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Evangelist Mike Rife officiating with burial to follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park at Big Rock, Virginia.
Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home after 6:00 P.M. Monday with services at 7:00 P.M. Monday evening.
