BRUCE E. MIKOWETZ

Bruce E. Mikowetz, age 90, of 1402 N. 23rd St., Manitowoc, entered eternal life
Saturday afternoon, March 20, 2010, at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center in
Manitowoc where he has resided since Thursday.
Bruce was born on May 13, 1919, in Mentor, Ohio. He was the son of the late
Waldermar and Edna Maine Mikowetz. After graduating from high school, Bruce went
into the Merchant Marines until he was drafted into the U.S. Army. After serving
his country for two years in the army, Bruce returned to the Merchant Marines and
worked for the Pittsburg Steamship Division of United States Steel. He retired in
1969. Bruce then became employed with Manitowoc Company as a foreman in the crane
department for the next 15 years and retired in 1983. On Jan. 5, 1942, he married
Jeanette Sattler in Toledo, Ohio. She preceded him in death on Dec. 18, 1979.
Bruce was involved in past years with local bowling and golf leagues.
He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Bast, Manitowoc; three grandchildren, Sharon
Pozorski and special friend Robbie Koll, Manitowoc; Brett Bast, Manitowoc; Tammy
(Pete) Strzyzewski, Manitowoc; seven great-grandchildren, three great-great-grand-
children; two sisters, Loretta and Audrey; two sons-in-law, Ronald (Judi) Von Drachek,
Manitowoc; Vincent Bast, Manitowoc; nieces, nephews along with other relatives and
friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jeanette in 1979; daughter,
Marsha in 1964; one sister, three brothers and one great-grandson.
A service of comfort for family and friends will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday March 24,
2010, at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Benjamin Schaefer
with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call
at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to (private) for the special
attention and kindness she gave to Bruce in his last few days while at Shady Lane
Nursing Care Center.
The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11th and St. Clair streets,
Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
