Herman C. Moenig, 94, died Sunday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs.
Ray Handy, of 1115 S. 15th St., Manitowoc, following an illness of several
months.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Jens Funeral Home, Manitowoc,
with the Rev. Paul H. Blaufuss officiating and burial will be in Evergreen
Cemetery.
Mr. Moenig was born Sept. 209, 1864, in Delzschan, Germany. He came to the U.S.
and directly to Manitowoc in 1889 and began working for Rahr Brewing Co. He
married the former Bertha Hoeppner at Manitowoc in 1890 and started working for
Kuntz-Bleser Brewing Co. In 1922 he began work at Aluminum Goods Mfg. Co. and
was employed there until retiring in 1940. Mr. Moenig was a member of Manitowoc
Eagles Aerie 706 and Freier Saengerbund. His wife died in 1928 and two daughters,
three sisters, and two brothers also preceded him in death.
Survivors include a son, Carl of Manitowoc; two daughters, Mrs. Handy and Mrs.
Carl Pagel of Algoma; 17 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Tuesday.
