Mr. Byers was a certified public accountant who began his accounting practice in Washington, D.C., and moved to this city 10 years ago. He served as secretary of the local CPA Society here.
He was born May 2, 1918, in Fruita, attended schools there and graduated from the University of Colorado in 1942. He married Ruth C. McCartney in Washinton, D.C., on January 26, 1946.
Mr. Byers was a member of the board of directors of the First Methodist Church of Grand Junction. He belonged to the Elks and Kiwanis clubs and to the Colorado and National CPA societies. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce.
Besides his wife, he leaves his mother, Mrs. Minta E. Gerry; a son, Randall E., age 11, and a daughter, Cynda R. Byers, also 11; three brothers, William A., Leland J. and Gordon F. Byers; and a sister, Mrs. Joyce E. Sommerville.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Martin's Chapel. The Rev. George E. Berry will officiate. Music will be by Herbert M. Wright, soloist, and Mrs. J. Glenn Cheedle, organist. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens of the Valley.
Pallbearers will be Frank Prinster Jr., Ray Beckner, Al Letey, John McNulty Jr., B. A. Kellogg and Alden Spooner.
