In regard to Susannah's birth date, all we have to go by are the 1850 through 1870 census. Her age in those records indicate she was either born in 1802 or 1804.

Sadly, there are two errors in the "new" gravestone for Susan.
First, the gravestone has Susan's spouses as William McClain and William Bowman. Susan's first husband was Thomas McClain, not William.
Second, her date of death is given as 1869. Susan is in the 1870 census with three of her children. She was shown as widowed in the 1870 census.

Susan and Thomas were married in Claiborne County on February 22, 1838. After Thomas's death in 1842, Susan then married William Bowman in Campbell County on May 2, 1843. Before they were married, Susan and William entered into an agreement whereby William would not inherit any of her estate should she predecease him. All would go to the three sons of Susan and Thomas McClain.

Many thanks to Find A Grave contributor Ann Bowman for the following information for this memorial:
Susan Crutchfield McClain Bowman was the daughter of Joshua Crutchfield. Susan was married twice. First; to Thomas McClain and second: to William E. Bowman, son of John and Lydia Bradley Bowman. Susan and Thomas McClain had 3 sons: Thomas, John, and William; and she and William Bowman had 5 children, two sons, James and David, and three daughters, Martha, Sarah and Nancy.
