BRONSON, Mrs. Cassandra Ross - Age 52, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2007 at Harper Hospital in Detroit, MI. Family hour 11AM Saturday, April 14, 2007 at Christ the Liberator Presbyterian Church, 6202 Dupont Street, with funeral services commencing at 11AM, Rev. Annie Duncan officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10AM Saturday. Mrs. Bronson now lies lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1-8PM today. Mrs. Cassandra Ross Bronson was born on September 24, 1954 in Detroit, MI. Cassandra was the middle child of Napoleon Ross and Mary Ruth Banks Ross. Napoleon and Mary Ruth had two daughters, Willinda and Cassandra and a son, Napoleon Ross II (affectionally known as "Brother"). Cassandra's father, mother, and brother preceded her in death. She grew up in Inkster, MI and attended Taylor Center High School, graduating 1972. Cassandra attended the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts in 1975. She later received two Master's Degrees from Eastern Michigan University. In 1975, Cassandra began her career as a special education teacher in the Flint Community Schools. She advanced through the ranks of her profession establishing an impeccable record of excellence and professionalism. Once entering administration, her talents and abilities led to several promotions culminating in a central office admintrative position in the Area of Human Resources. Cassandra was an active and faithful member of Christ the Liberator Presbyterian Church, USA. She served in many capacities, including: Head of the Deacons Organization, choir member and lay assistant. Cassandra was a member of the Central-Flint Optimist Club. She also became a member of Links, Inc. Flint-Area Chapter in March of this year. Cassandra was a Life member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated, Zeta Beta Zeta Chapter. She served several terms as Basilus of her chapter her most recent honor bestowed upon her by her sorors was being elected to the position of State Director. Cassandra's quiet dignity, physical beauty and internal strength were hallmarks of Cassandra's life. Among her hobbies were; reading, traveling, vacationing, and purchasing from the Home Shopping Channel. Cassandra was diagnosed with Leukemia in April of last year. She fought this disease with all of her might, never complaining and never giving up hope, believing that one day her health would be restored. Her unwavering faith in God and her love for her family are what got her through each day. On April 7, 2007, Cassandra embarked on her eternal journey. Cassandra's legacy will forever be cherished by her loving and devoted husband, Waldo; two loving sons, Jamaal Jordan and Glenn Bronson; step-son, Vernon Ross (Wendy) Yancy of Los Angeles, CA; step-daughter, Lisa (Kareem) Carpenter of Atlanta, GA; five beautiful grandchildren, Jasmine and Glen Yancy, Bryce, Shai and Khari Carpenter; sister, Willinda (Larry) Butler of Southfield, MI; mother-in-law, Celestine Bronson; niece, April (Deon) Little of Surprise, AZ; nephew, Delvin (Yvette) Scarber of Southfield, MI; a special aunt, Pollye Marshall; and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins who loved her dearly including her long time friend Loleta Towner.
