Daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Julia Flournoy Johnson, Louisa was first married to William R. Elley on December 23, 1847. They had three children: Mary, Henry, and Lilly. After her husband died, she would become the second wife of Dr. Charles Wilkins Dudley, whose first wife was Louisa's sister, Margaret. Louisa and Dr. Dudley married on October 12, 1867 at Washington County, Mississippi. This couple would have no children, but would reside at the beautiful mansion that Charles had built for his first wife, "Mount Holly" near Lake Washington.
