Clara's marriage to Levi Caleb Young joined two of the pioneer families in Harrison County, Missouri. Widowed when her youngest child was only 2 years old, she continued, with the help of relatives, to operate the farmland she and her husband had inherited until her son, Earl, was married February 1917. In early 1917 Clara went to Floris, Iowa to help care for daughter, Cora, who was ill. There on December 12, 1917 she died quietly in her sleep.
