Joseph W. Harris, 89, died January 8, 2014 in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Mr. Harris was born in Clayton, North Carolina and moved to Fort Pierce in 1942.

He was a member of the Clydes Chapel in Clayton, North Carolina and a much loved part of Parkview Baptist Church in Fort Pierce. He served in the U.S. Navy with the "Scouts & Raiders" from 1942-1945, served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1956-1958 and the U.S. Air Force from 1958-1973. He was an active supporter of the U.S. Navy Seal Museum of Fort Pierce and was also a 32' Mason.

Survivors include his wife, Lorraine S. Harris of Fort Pierce, FL; step-daughter, Rev. Kathy S. Ozenberger of League City, TX; brothers, Julian Harris of North Carolina, Talmage Harris and Roger Harris all of North Carolina; sisters, Audrey Harris of North Carolina and Frances Eubanks of South Carolina; grandson, Andy Ozenberger of League City, TX. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Hazel Mayer, Cedrick Harris, Ralph Harris, Shirley Windham and Edwin Harris.

Memorial contributions may be made to the National Navy Seal Museum, 3300 N. Hwy A1A, Fort Pierce, FL 34949, or to Parkview Baptist Church, 403 Hayes Road, Fort Pierce, FL 34950 or to Clydes Chapel Church, 16657 Buffalo Road, Wendell, North Carolina 27591.

Burial will take place at Clydes Chapel Cemetery in Clayton, North Carolina.
