DIES IN CHENOA

Mrs. Thomas C. Ballinger, an Old Resident, Passes Away Suddenly On Tuesday.

Last evening at 6:30 o'clock at her home in Chenoa, occurred the death of Mrs. Thomas C. Ballinger, an old-time resident of Chenoa. Altho Mrs. Ballinger had been ill for several months, death came suddenly, being caused by apoplexy just as she arose from the supper table while alone in the dining room.

Mary Dixon was born in Camden, Ohio, June 11, 1833. February 19, 1852, she was united in marriage to Thomas Ballinger at Camden. Following their marriage, they went to Tennessee where they resided for a time. Thirty-nine years ago, they moved to Peoria county, and in the fall of 1873, moved again to Chenoa, where they have since made their home. Mr. Ballinger preceded her in death over two years ago. There are surviving the following children: Frank L. Ballinger of Bloomington: Clayton of Lexington; S. E., Alvin, John, Riley E., and F.H. Ballinger, all of Chenoa. There are also two daughters, Mrs. E. R. Gayman of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mrs. Laura Whitcomb of Chenoa. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Rebecca Brown of Normal.

Mrs. Ballinger was for many years a member of the M. E. Church and thru out her life led a clean Christina life. She was one of the best-known women of Chenoa and has always commanded the respect of all who knew her. The announcement of her death will be a great surprise to her many friends who will regret to learn of her demise. Funeral announcement will be made later.

She married Thomas E. Ballinger on February 19, 1852, at Camden, Preble County, Ohio.

Mary was my 3rd great-grandaunt.
