A. Clifton Jacobsen, 83, of Salt Lake City passed away Friday, September 30, 1983 at a local hospital of cardiac arrest.

Born Friday, April 27, 1900 in Salt Lake City to Andrew and Miriam Farmer Jacobsen. Married Vauna Smith Wednesday, June 24, 1925 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was an active groceryman for 53 years, serving on the Board of Directors for the Utah Retail Grocer's Association. Graduate of LDS High School and University of Utah School of Business. Member of the Delta Sigma Pi and Pi Kappa Alpha fraternities. He loved music, and was a member of the McCune School Symphony Orchestra playing the cello. He played in dance orchestras for 20 years. Was a private pilot and loved flying. Actively engaged in many church positions including Young Men's Presidency, Sunday School Presidency, Bishop for 13 years in the Marlborough Ward, Stake Sunday School Superintendent, served on two High Councils in the Granite and Sugarhouse Stakes, Stake Presidency for six years, Salt Lake Temple ordinance worker for ten years, and was a ward clerk at the time of his death.

Survivors: Wife, Vauna; children, Alan C., Mrs. Thomas (Dwan) Young, Jr., all Salt Lake City; eight grandchildren, Mrs. Steven (Shauna) Marx, Las Vegas, Nevada, Mrs. Steven (Christine) Knudson, Mrs. Stephen (Suzanne) Jones, Mark and Howard Jacobsen, Michael and Jeffrey Young, all Salt Lake City, Paul Young, Mesa, Arizona; eleven great-grandchildren; brother, S. Clark Jacobsen, Salt Lake City.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 4, 1983, 12 noon at the Hawthorne Ward, 808 East Roosevelt Ave. (1460 So.) Friends could call Monday 6-8 p.m. Memorial Estates Mortuary 5850 So. 900 East, and Tuesday one hour prior to services at the ward. Interment, Mountain View Memorial Estates.
