Born in Lebanon on April 10, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Fred W. and Helen (Barry) Shay.
Dorothy was a member of St. Mary's Church in Lebanon. She was a master with coloring books and creating needlepoint place mats that she was proud to give as gifts to her friends and family. Throughout her long and happy life, Dorothy was not only a part of, but often the center of countless family gatherings, celebrations, and vacations. Dorothy was well loved. Her brother in law, Ed Schlegel, who, after losing his wife, took Dorothy into his home and cared for her as only family can do for nearly 25 years before she entered Cedar Haven Nursing Home in 2013.
She is survived by a sister in law, Patricia B. Shay, of Lebanon; a brother in law, Edward Schlegel Sr., of Lebanon, and six nephews and four nieces.
Dorothy was preceded in death by 2 brothers, William J. and Fred G. Shay; a sister, Elizabeth (Shay) Schlegel and a sister in law, Carolyn (Ruhl) Shay.
Funeral services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dorothy's name may be made to Cedar Haven Nursing Home, 590 S. 5th Avenue, Lebanon, PA 17042.
