John Fenton started the Fenton Glass Company with his brother Frank Fenton and was its first president. He left to start the Millersburg Glass Company in Millersburg, Ohio in 1909.
He was married to Quindiara Kerr Fenton on April 1, 1891 and had 5 children. One, Hazel Marie, died in Nov. of 1893 of whooping cough. His daughter Grace Fenton died in 1918 during the flu epidemic. His other two daughters were Nellie Fenton Glasgo and Helen Fenton Elliot of Millersburg, Ohio. Another child also died in infancy. His wife died in 1921 in a car accident. (The gravestone says he was born in 1870 which is incorrect).
