Roger Leonard Barnes, Sr., 73, of 3579 Mount Olivet Rd., Martinsville, VA died Saturday, February 19, 2011 in Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Born in Martinsville, April 2, 1937, Roger was a son of the late Leonard Ester Barnes and Ninner Bradley Barnes. Roger was preceded in death by a son John Michael "Mike" Barnes.
Roger was married to Peggy Ashby Barnes who survives.
He was of the Primitive Baptist faith and had retired after more than 30 years of service from American of Martinsville in the shipping department.
In addition to his wife of the home, Roger is survived by a son, Roger Leonard Barnes, Jr. of Martinsville; a sister, Rebecca Barnes Lacey of Biloxi, MS and by two brothers, Terrell Ray Barnes of Lynchburg and Donald Neal Barnes of Welcome, NC.
The funeral service will be conducted from the graveside in Roselawn Burial Park, Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. with Elder Kenny Bowles officiating.
The family will receive friends at Norris Funeral Services Martinsville Chapel, Tuesday, February 22, 2011 from 6:30 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. and at other times the family will be at the home.
