The brother of my grandfather, James Emmit Deel.

Charlie Ivan Deel was born on Saturday, March 22, 1890 in Fisher County, Texas to George Washington Deel and Florence Emaline "Galley" Brookshire.

He had thirteen siblings: Alexander Lafayette Deel, Walter Robert Deel, James Emmit Deel, George "Henry" Deel, Birtie Guy Deel, Alley Lee Deel, Flora Lurena Deel Blount, Essie "Adron" Deel Ivison, Katy "Jewell" Deel Miller, Florence Virginia Deel, Noel "Pete" Deel, Willie Graves Deel, and Orris V. Deel, Sr.

His paternal grandparents were Peter Abraham Deel, III and Isabella Serena Duff and his maternal grandparents were Graves Goodrich Brookshire and Sarah Frances Bacon.

He married Lois Bigham on November 19, 1916 in Pleasant Valley, Fisher County, Texas. They were blessed with four children: Mamie Gene Deel Strickland, Melva Dene Deel Youngblood, Weldon Ivan Deel, and Ava Nell Deel Crawford Ballew.

He died on Monday, March 27, 1961 in Fisher County, Texas. He was 71 years old.

ROTAN - Funeral arrangements for Charlie Ivan Deel, 71, are to be announced by Weatherbee Funeral Home. The retired farmer and Rotan native died in Callan Hospital here Monday afternoon after having been seriously ill about a month.
Born March 22, 1890, in the White Flat area just south of Rotan, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Deel who were among the first settlers in this area.
He and Lois Bigham were married Nov. 19, 1916 at Pleasant Valley, eas of here. He was a member of the Methodist Church here.
Survivors are his wife of Rotan; three daughters, Mrs. F. W. (Mamie Gene) Strickland of Sacramento, Calif., Mrs. W. H. (Melva Dean) Youngblood of Hemet, Calif., and Mrs. W. K. (Nell) Crawford of Big Spring; a son Weldon of Mineral Wells; seven brothers, J. E. of Big Spring G. H. of Lewisville, B. G. of Clyde, A. L. and Willie of Hamlin, Pete of Roby and O. V. of Arlington; three sisters, Mrs. Flora Blount of Rotan, Mrs. I. T. Ivison of Snyder and Mrs. Tom Miller of Jayton, and 12 grandchildren.
