Paul was born in Fresno on October 5, 1922, to Richard and Katherine Neadens Wasemiller, who emigrated from Russia to Fresno in 1912.

He attended Edison Technical School, and Fresno State College. Prior to attending Fresno State he served as a musician in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. He left Fresno State before graduation to work in the family business, Wasemiller Dry Goods. He stayed with the business until 1966, when he closed the store and went to work for Hall and Hall, a mutual fund investment firm. He retired from his work as an investment broker in 2007, but remained active in family business affairs.

In his later years he enjoyed supporting the Fresno Grizzlies, Fresno State Bulldogs and Fresno Pacific Sunbirds. Paul was very active in Fresno civic affairs and charitable causes. After serving on the Fresno Unified School Board, he served on the Fresno City Council for 17 years, including a year as Mayor Pro Tempore. He served as president of the Fresno Host Lions Club and the Fresno State Alumni Association; and was active in many other local organizations including the YMCA, Boy Scouts, and the National Historical Society of Germans from Russia.

He was preceded in death by his wife Joline; his parents; his brothers: Reinholt "Reini" and Emil Wasemiller; sisters: Elvira Wasemiller, Erma Wadewitz, Elvira Wasemiller Maxwell and Victoria Wasemiller Russell.

He is survived by his son, Paul David Wasemiller of Fresno and wife Patti; his daughter, Gail Wasemiller of Madera; his son, Peter Wasemiller of Fresno and wife Diana; his older sister, Ella Wadewitz of Ft. Wayne, In., who is in her 100th year; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at Palm Avenue Community Church.

Remembrances may be made to Fresno Pacific University; or Palm Avenue Community Church of Fresno.
