Paul L. Wykle, Sr., 80 of Flagler Beach, Florida, formerly of Hinton, died Monday October 3, 2016 in Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House in Palm Coast, Florida.

Born December 14, 1935 in Ronceverte, he was the son of the late Roscoe Jackson and Stella Mae Erskine Wykle.

Before retiring in 1994, he was President of Twin State, Inc. In 1965 on a wing and a prayer, Paul thought it a good idea to purchase a barber supply distributor in Virginia and start a company in Hinton, West Virginia. There were years of back breaking bread truck deliveries and his expanding the team out of a two car garage that was added on to four times. In 1980, a new warehouse was built and branch locations opened. He, his wife and business partner Barbara of 37 years, and later with their two sons, and valued employees have franchises for 5 states with 75 employees, servicing and shipping in the hair care industry to salons. Paul was a 1954 graduate of Talcott High School, was a previous 30 year BBSI trade organization member, was a 10 year member of the board of directors of First National Bank in Hinton, and was a former member of the Hinton Elks Lodge. He also was a member and former trustee of Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church at Hilldale and a veteran of the United States Navy.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wallace and Elmer Wykle.

Paul is survived by his former wife and still friend, Barbara Wykle; two sons, Paul L. Wykle, Jr. and wife Paula of Beckley and Brian Keith Wykle and wife Heather of Jumping Branch; two granddaughters, Makayla and Delaney Wykle, both of Morgantown, WV; step-grandson, Brandon of Dublin, VA; three brothers, Thomas Wykle of Talcott, Ellery Wykle of Talcott and Alfred Wykle of Hinton; two sisters, Nellie Mae Massey of Ronceverte, WV and Juanita Wykle of Charlottesville, VA.

Paul wanted to reach out and share his thoughts at the time of his passing. He wanted to say a special thank you to long time organizer and lunch buddy, Nancy for her friendship, along with all the special caring people at his favorite restaurants, Martins, The Fisherman’s Net and Gycepees.

Being in Florida and unable to travel for the last 7 years, he said his memories would be the highlight of most days. Paul wanted to say to all he called family, friends and business partners; he was blessed to have shared a life with you. He relied on many, helped a few, laughed, cried, upset some, had a little success with regrets during a full life, for sure.

“Here’s to you that I knew that are left”.

Per his wishes, there will be no service or memorial.
