Trooper, Colorado State Patrol. She died in the line of duty while investigating a fatal traffic accident on US Hwy 50 two miles east of Pueblo, Colorado. As she was taking a final measurement at the scene of the accident, she was struck by an eastbound vehicle, sustaining head injuries and multiple bone fractures. She died the next day following surgery at St. Mary Corwin Hospital in Pueblo. She was the first woman law enforcement officer to die in line of duty in Colorado's history and the first woman state trooper to die in line of duty in the U.S. Trooper Galvin is memorialized on the East Wall Panel 51 Line 12 of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC and also on the Colorado Law Enforcement Memorial at Camp George West, in Golden.
