Richard C. "Dick" Rutland
Of Olcott, NY husband of Beverly M. Rutland entered into rest Friday, June 6, 2008 at home just after the NY Yankees lost to Kansas City Royals. Dick was born in Newfane, NY March 10, 1931 the son of the late Richard L. and Onalee Mahl Rutland. He married Beverly Marshall October 7, 1950. He was a veteran of the US Army serving his country overseas during the Korean War. Dick was one of the butchers at Georges Market in his younger years, then became Postmaster of Olcott, NY 14126. In 1960 he became a NYS Licensed Funeral Director and has owned and operated Rutland-Corwin Funeral Home, Inc. from 1961 until his retirement in 1996. Member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and was past warden. Member of Newfane Lodge #974 F&AM 50 yr member, Charter member of Olcott Lions Club, Past President and Life member of Newfane Lions Club, Past vice president of Erie-Niagara Funeral Directors Association and past chairman of Niagara County Funeral Directors Group, Also a member of Newfane American Legion Post #873, VFW post #8438, Exempt member of Olcott Fire Company and Miller Hose Fire Company in Newfane. Treasurer, trustee and past secretary of Corwin Cemetery Association since 1962. Dick wintered in Ormond Beach, FL with his loving wife for over 15yrs. Dick was ONE of Olcott's most ardent Yankee's Fan. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and a good game of cribbage. Father of Ann (Martin) Schulze of Burt, NY, Julie (Michael) Stamm of Ithaca, NY and Richard W. (Laura) Rutland of Newfane, NY. Grandfather of Tyler, Noah, Shaun, Elliott, Emily, Ashley and Richie.
