Obituary published in the Tooele County, Utah "Deseret News" newspaper, dated Sunday, November 17, 1996:

John L. Cook, age 81, of Cedar Fort, died Nov. 15, 1996 in American Fork, Utah after a long illness.

John was born Nov. 1, 1915 in Cedar Fort to William H. and Elizabeth P. Elton Cook. He married Lois Anderson, Sept. 19, 1940 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.John's interests were antique cars and motorcycles. He was a member of the LDS Church. He retired in 1978 after serving 30 years as a fire fighter, retiring as assistant fire chief from Dugway Proving Grounds. John also ran a farm and cattle operation with his brother, Art.

Survived by his wife, Lois; daughter, Marlene (Duane) Allen; sons, Wally (Sharon) Cook and Melvyn Cook, all of Cedar Fort; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Art Cook and Clyde (Carolyn) Cook, Cedar Fort; sisters, Nettie (Dean) Hayes, Vivian (Kermit) Dubois and Ruth DeBoer, all of Bountiful; Leona Bird, Lehi. He was preceded in death by one brother, Ernest and two sisters, Laverne and Thelma.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 20, 1996 at 11 a.m. in the Cedar Valley Ward LDS Chapel. Friends may call Tuesday evening at the Wing Mortuary, 118 E. Main, Lehi, from 6-8 p.m. and at the Church in Cedar Fort, Wednesday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Cedar Fort Cemetery
