Esther was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. She was a member of the Knox Ridge Baptist Church and a former Sunday school teacher. She was an avid quilter, a terrific cook and well known for her lemon meringue pies.
In addition to her parents, Esther was predeceased by her brother, Lawrence Erskine; and sisters, Eunice Norris and Pauline Erskine.
Esther is survived by her husband of 67 years, Robert Winship, of Unity; her children and spouses, Barbara and Ed Hall of St. Albans, Beverly Winship of Unity, Floyd and Fannie-Lynn Winship of Berwick, Raymond and Connie Winship of Fairfield, Jolene and Morris Berry of St. George and Tammy and Wayne Dowdy of Montville; 14 grandchildren, Darlene Huff, Darren Hall, David Hall, Becky Briggs, Debby Laurent, Rachel Turcotte, Steve Winship, Martha Winship, Scott Winship, Dan Winship, Chris Winship, Nick Berry, Hannah Berry, and Jon Dowdy; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers and wives, Roger and Ruth Erskine, Dick and Sharon Erskine, Jim and Lorraine Erskine, and Bob and Sonia Erskine and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, at Lawry Brothers Memorial and Remembrance Centre in Unity. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31, at the Knox Ridge Baptist Church.
