He was the son of the late Carl Wardlaw Davis and Mary Elizabeth Jamison Davis. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Till Davis of The Oaks; five daughters, Freeda Davis Wood of Columbia, Annette Davis MacInnis of Mount Pleasant, Nancy Davis Evans and husband Glenn of Hartsville, Sheryl Davis Andrews and husband Chris of Columbia, and Marla Davis Lauf and husband Tim of Charlotte, N.C.; four sisters, Miriam Davis Kemmerlin and husband Clyde of Orangeburg, Charlotte Davis Harrell of James Island, Patsy Davis Hendricks of Branchville, and Barbara Davis Parnell and husband Bob of Summerville; a brother, Murray Lamar Davis and wife Emma Jo of Columbia; grandchildren, Chris MacInnis, Sarah Maxwell, Lane Buete, Amy Woodham, Laurie Taylor, Emily Andrews, Matt Andrews, Olivia Lauf and Emma Kate Lauf; and nine great-grandchildren.

He owned and operated Davis Coin Amusement Company. He was a member of Four Holes Baptist Church. He was a beloved husband and father. Devotion to family and country shall be a lasting memory. His joyous spirit will remain with us. He was a U. S. Army Veteran having fought in WWII under General George Patton in the Battle of the Bulge and was a member of the V.F.W. Burial included Military Rites.

Pallbearers were Christopher Robin MacInnis, Matthew Lee Andrews, Murray Lamar Davis, Jr., Matthew Jamison Davis, Robert Benjamin Parnell, Jeffrey Windham Parnell, and Jimmy Melvin Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Cebie Donald Hutto, Danny C. Davis, Robert William Harrell, Jr., William Harry Hendricks, and John Davis Harrell.
