Obituary: "Funeral of Mrs. C. A. Baxley will be held Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Mary Jane Baxley, 73, a woman who was well beloved in the community of East Liberty, where she had long resided, died at 2:30pm Friday in Toledo, at the home of a son, Dale Baxley, and wife. Mrs. Baxley had been confined to her bed for the past three months and a part of that time she was a patient in a Toledo hospital. She had a heart ailment. She had gone to Toledo last August to pay her son and his wife a visit and became ill soon thereafter. She had been in failing health for some time, but despite the inroads that sickness made upon her she was a patient sufferer throughout her invalidism. Mrs. Baxley was a home-loving woman, one who had put her greatest interest in her children and her grandchildren, and all adored her. She possessed an exceptional sympathy and understanding. She was born Mary Jane Van Hyning, the daughter of Robert Nelson and Catherine Van Hyning, March 22, 1867, on a farm one and one-quarter mile east of East Liberty. She was united in marriage with Charles Allen Baxley in 1887, his death occurring in 1918. There were 10 children born to the union, a daughter Sadie preceding her mother in death. The following children remain: George Nelson Baxley and Mrs. Paul Ballinger, of East Liberty; Franklin M. Baxley, Marion Baxley and Mrs. I. C. Yoder, of Bellefontaine; Mrs. Lloyd Grubbs, Dale Baxley and David Baxley, of Toledo; and Clyde Baxley, of Columbus. The grandchildren remaining are Richard Baxley, Betty Jane Baxley and Charles Baxley, of Bellefontaine; Mrs. Virginia Knotts, Marion; Lloyd Nelson Grubs, Carroll Grubbs, June Grubbs, Fay Baxley and Marvin Baxley, of Toledo; Charles Baxley, of Columbus; and Mrs. Klimena Jackson, Robert Baxley, Herbert Baxley and Katherine Baxley, of East Liberty. The great-grandchildren are Barbara Anne Baxley and Franklin Merle Baxley II and Ronald Baxley, of Bellefontaine; and Linda Lou Jackson, of East Liberty. A brother, C. A. Van Hyning, died August 21st in East Liberty. Mrs. Baxley attended the Church of Christ in East Liberty. Her Christianity extended far beyond church attendance, however, as she was a woman who was always sought by friends burdened with sorrow. She possessed an abiding faith in her Lord and her life reflected a devotion to His service. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2pm at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Paul Ballinger, in East Liberty, with Reverend Gerald Bright of East Liberty and Reverend E. B. Higham of Bellefontaine officiating."
