Age 94, died Friday night, October 26, at Independence Village, East Lansing. She was born September 21, 1918 in Big Rapids, Michigan to Leonard and Bernice Tanner. On September 24, 1943, she married Ernest Wilkinson, who preceded her in death in 1990.
Ileen attended Ferris State University and graduated from Central Michigan University in 1941. She taught in Belleville during World War II and then at several Lansing elementary schools, retiring in 1978.
She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen (Mike) Hellum of Okemos; a son, Ross Wilkinson of Okemos; grandchildren, Aren Hellum of Rhode Island and Megan Hellum of Las Vegas, NV; a sister, Ferne Lolmaugh, of Niles, MI; sister-in-law, Lois (Bob) Prezny of Palmetto, FL and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bob Tanner and sister, Veva Abrahamsen.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, November 10, 11:30 a.m. at Gunnisonville United Methodist Church, 2031 E. Clark Rd, Bath. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674 in Ileen's memory.
