-- SHARON - Dessie Lipe Baker, 86, of 555 N Burris Road, died Saturday, June 12, 2010, in Barstow, Calif.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2010, at Mount Carmel Freewill Baptist Church. The Rev. John Cody and the Rev. Kevin Rife will be officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery in Fort Mill, S.C.
Dessie was a daughter of the late William Stokes and Rosa Priscilla Reeves. She was the widow of John T. Walden Sr. and Aaron Baker. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church. She retired as battery filler in the textile industry .
She was a beloved mother of two sons, John Walden of York, S.C., and James Walden of Charlotte, N.C.; four daughters, Debby Hayes of Sharon, S.C., Barbara Marlin of Halifax, Pa., Dee Robertson and Janice Paquette, both of Barstow, Calif.; three sisters, Patsy Ayers of Fort Mill, S.C., Edna Ruiz of Rock Hill, S.C., and Katie Osborne of Fort Mill; and 22 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Walden.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 18, 2010, at Bratton Funeral Home. Following the service, the family will receive friends at the home of Jerry and Shanna Chapman, 205 Kelly Court, Fort Mill.
Memorials may be made to Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church, 2095 Sutton Springs Road, York, SC 29745.
