The funeral of Francis H. Bruce, a civil war veteran, who died Saturday, was held at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the late residence, 2402 Peoria road. Mr. Bruce was born in Morgan county November 27, 1841. He was a member of Company I, Fourteenth Illinois Volunteer infantry in the civil war and was enrolled May 25, 1861. He was discharged June 2, 1865. He then came to Springfield and had since resided here.

On October 7, 1880 he was married to Miss Sarah L. Ash in Sangamon county and to this union three daughters and one son were born. He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Ida B. Davis, Mrs. Emma Stanton and Mrs. Jennie A. Easton, all of Springfield; one son, Harry W. Bruce of Patterson, N. J.; and a half-brother, Robert McAllister of Springfield; an uncle, Abisha J. Gunn of Murrayville, Ill., and eleven grand-children.

At the funeral service the George W. Reed circle No. 74, Ladies of the G.A.R., held a flag service at the home. Stephenson Post No. 30, G. A. R., had charge of the services at the grave. Burial was in Oak Ridge cemetery.
