Information of the death of Col. W. L. Barnum, at the Lakota hotel in Chicago yesterday morning, was received by friends in the city during the day. The remains will be brought to this city for burial Monday, and interment will be at Oak Ridge cemetery. Mrs. W. R. Beall, sister of the late Mrs. Barnum, was at the bedside when her brother-in-law passed away. She will accompany the remains to this city.

The deceased served with the Union forces in the Civil war. He married one of the daughters of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Clark, who at that time resided at the northwest corner of Capitol avenue and Fifth street, where the Unity building now stands. The couple lived happily together many years until Mrs. Barnum passed away about three years ago.
