Belva Midgett Daniels of Manteo. Her brother, Moncie L. Daniels, Jr. preceded her in death.
She was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church and a member of the cast of "The Lost Colony" outdoor drama for 27 years. Her portrayal of "Agona" beginning in 1957 earned her the distinction in American Theater of playing the same role longer than any other actor.
In 1988 Cora Mae co-authored "Memories of Manteo and Roanoke Island". Her yard and her porch were her favorite spots and she will be remembered by many for sharing her enthusiasm for life.
Cora Mae's favorite quote was "God must have loved the common man because he made so many of us." A few years ago Cora Mae visited a number of classrooms in the schools to recall her memories and tell stories about growing up on Roanoke Island in the early part of this century.
She is survived by one brother, Thomas B. Daniels of Nags Head. Her love of family is evident in her surviving children: sons, E.J. and his wife Jean Alford of Highspire, PA, Saint Clair and his wife Bea Basnight, Marc and his wife Sandy Basnight, both of Manteo; daughters: Dotty Fry, Sally and her husband Phil Scarborough, Sarah and her husband Bobby Owens, all of Manteo, and Della Basnight of Raleigh.
"Grandma" was very special to each of her grandchildren: Eddie Alford and Kathy Ulrich of Highspire, PA, Fields Scarborough, Sarah S. Wise, R.V. Owens, III, Claudia F. Sluder, Vicki Basnight and Caroline B. Shannon, all of Manteo, Hannon Fry of Richmond, and Lisa O. Hooper of Buxton. She will be missed by her 13 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Muriel Daniels and Kay D. Sawyer of Manteo, and Oma Pearl Daniels of Manns Harbor.
The funeral will be held Wednesday in Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church.
