Hugo Hugues Frere "Frayer" Freer was one of the twelve "Huguenot Patentees" of the celebrated New Paltz Patent in Ulster County, New York granted by Sir Edmond Adros, September 29, 1677. He was a native of Herly-en-Boulonis, France as a young man, married Marie de la Haye, a native of Douaye, France. They married October 1660 in the French Congregation at Mannheim, Germany. He and Marie came to America around 1675-1676. She died in the plague of 1676 and Hugo married Jannetje Wibau.
