Funeral services for Mason P. Erwin will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, August 30, 2007 in the First United Methodist Church in Oakdale with the Rev. Corrie Cieslukowski officiating. The Fort Polk Honor Guards will conduct military rites. Committal services will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale.

Mr. Erwin, 83, of Oakdale, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 in the Allen Oaks Nursing and Rehab Center in Oakdale. He was born on February 7, 1924 to the union of James Newton Erwin, Sr., and Josephine Redwine Erwin in Oakdale. He was a United States Army veteran of WWII, member of the First United Methodist Church in Oakdale, co-owner of Erwin Brothers General Mercantile and served eight years on the Oakdale City Council. He was a loving husband, father and friend.

His parents, James Newton Erwin, Sr., and Josephine Erwin; two brothers, Wilbur Erwin and James Newton Erwin, Jr. and one sister, Marqueritte Kenley precedes him in death.

He leaves behind his loving family to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Anne Edine Erwin of Oakdale and two daughters, Amy Erwin and Jo E. Erwin both of Jeanerette.

Pallbearers honored to serve will be Amy Erwin, Jo E. Erwin, Chris Bacon, Edward Cox, Don DuPlechain and Charles Seale. Honorary pallbearers honored to serve will be the Methodist Men's Sunday School Class.

Friends may call today from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the White Oaks Funeral Home Chapel and from 1 p.m. until time of service at the church.
