KERSHAW - A graveside service for Charles Dwight Blackmon, Sr., 92, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 22, 2011, in Kershaw City Cemetery.

Mr. Blackmon, widower of Sherriel Beckham Blackmon, died Thursday, May 19, in Fairfield Memorial Hospital, Winnsboro. Born in the Pleasant Hill Community, he was the son of the late Charles Alexander and Emmie Robinson Blackmon. He was a General Contractor and the former manager of the Kershaw Golf Course. Mr. Blackmon was a member of Damascus United Methodist Church, Westville, a member of Flat Rock Masonic Lodge # 178 and a US Army Veteran serving during World War II.

Surviving are 4 daughters: Deanna Delia of Irmo, Jeanne Estridge of Kershaw, Charla Goodman of Mt. Pleasant, N.C., Lynn Hankins of Elgin, 2 sons: Charles D. Blackmon, Jr. of Kershaw and Eddie Blackmon of Lugoff, 2 brothers: Murray "Mutt" Blackmon of Elgin and Glen Blackmon of Scottsdale, AZ. and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers: E.C., James and Manny Blackmon.

The family will receive friends, Saturday, May 21, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home and other times at the home of his daughter: 7281 Estridge Ave., Kershaw.

Memorial contributions may be made to Damascus United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 506, Westville, S.C. 29175.
