Anna's mother Emily Carter Smith died in 1844. Her father William Smith left the children with various families before 1850 and left for California and never came back. Reuben Smith and Nancy Fox Smith took care of Anna Mariah. Reuben was Anna's father's brother. Her parents' burial places are not known at this time..
Marriage to Edmund Baker 21 Oct 1858 in Knox, Missouri.
Historical note: Edmund Baker's father, Willis Baker, and Anna Mariah's brother, Hiram Smith, were both executed in the Palmyra Massacre at Palmyra, Missouri, during the Civil War.
