Capt. Asbury Drops Dead. Captain A.E. Asbury, a widely known citizen of Higginsville, died very suddenly Tuesday morning at his home in Higginsville. Mr. Asbury had not been feeling well for some time and had made plans for his annual trip to Florida. He was out in the garden watering some flowers when he was stricken. Capt. Asbury was born in Virginia, August 16, 1836. In 1857 he came to Missouri and studied law for two years at Plattsburg. He was admitted to the bar and practiced his profession in Texas county until the outbreak of the Civil war when he joined the Confederate army and served four years. At the close of the war he came to Lafayette county, where he has since resided. Mr. Asbury was actively engaged in many business enterprises. He was connected with the American Bank of Higginsville, and was president of the Higginsville Milling Company. His wife who survives him was Miss Ellen Gaw. They were married in November 9, 1869. He is also survived by three sons, Hugh G., A.E., Jr., and Harvey Asbury of Higginsville, and Mrs. John P. Withers of San Antonio, Texas.
