Captain F. Beth Harbach Donovan, 89, died Nov. 1, 2008 at Florida Baptist Retirement Center, Vero Beach, Fla.

She was born in Norwich, Pa., and lived in Vero Beach for 48 years, coming from Lock Haven.

Mrs. Donovan attained a nursing degree from Williamsport Nursing Hospital, Williamsport. She was also an operating room nurse in the U.S. Army during World War II, being promoted to the rank of Captain. She served in the campaigns of Normany, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe.

She was a corporate nurse at Piper Aircraft for more than 30 years at Lock Haven and Vero Beach, Fla.

Mrs. Donovan was a member of Grace Lutheran Church E.L.S., Indian River Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Grace Evening Circle.

Survivors include her husband, Dean Donovan of Vero Beach, Fla.; a daughter, Ruth Aldrich of Vero Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Nov. 4, 2008 at Strunk Funeral Home Chapel, Vero Beach, Fla. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Fort Pierce, Fla.
