Donald E. Krokstrom, 78, Neodesha, died Saturday, May 12, 2001, at Golden Keys Nursing Home there.
He was born March 29, 1923, in Elsmore, the son of Fred and Hulda Peterson Krokstrom.
He was a graduate of Elsmore High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a lifelong carpenter. He was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W. and Ruritan, all of Elsmore.
He married Virginia Starliper, and she preceded him in death.
He married Cliffie Stapp Barb in Neodesha on Jan. 15, 1973, and she survives.
He also is survived by a son, Jim of Parsons; two daughters, Connie Schmidt of Gas and Gale Test of Portland, Texas; a stepson, Jim Barb of Mount Vernon, Mo.; three stepdaughters, Vicki Moon of Lamarque, Texas, Diana Morrison of Carrolton, Texas, and Sharon O'Conner of Kansas City, Mo.; two brothers, Eugene of Elsmore and DeWayne of Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Ophelia Zimmerman of Chanute; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded by a son, Fredrick L.; and five brothers and sisters.
Services were at 2 p.m. today at Neodesha First Christian Church, with the Rev. Dan DeWitt officiating.
Burial followed at Elsmore Cemetery.
Loran Fawcett Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements and services.
Memorials may be made to the church, in care of the funeral home.
