He was born and raised in the Abingdon community where he lived for about 20 years, attended the Cherry Grove School. He also had resided in Phoenix, Azizona. He was a trucker an automobile mechanic.
He married Nina Shippy in Phoenix, Arizonia on June 8, 1929, she survives.
Other survivors include five sons. Joe (Betsy) Brock, Cecil (Marge) Brock and Harvey (Kay) Brock all of R. R. Abingdon, William (Ann) Brock of Denton, Texas and Melvin "Burt" (Sharon) Brock of Abingdon; two daughters, Roberta (George) West and Frances (Don) Thurman of Abingdon; three sisters Mrs. Mina Norman, Pheonix, Arizonia, Mrs. Ila Simpson, Monmouth, Illinois, Mrs. Bondelle Kaseman, Bala Cynwad, Pennsylvania; one brother Mr. Claude Brock, Galesburg, Illinois; and 25 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
He was preceeded in death by two brothers, Bill and Jim.
Graveside rites were held at the Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg, at 2:30 p.m. with the Reverend Frank Deninger of the United Methodist Church officiating. Larson's Funeral Home in Abingdon was in charge of the arrangements.
