She was born January 29, 1937 in Galesburg to Edwin F. and Mary C. Mead Wilson. She married Kenneth L. Smrz October 26, 1957 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death February 3, 2000.
Surviving are two daughters, Melissa A. Smrz of Alexandria, Va. and Aimee M. (and Jonathan) Burstein of Lexington, Mass. and two grandchildren, Luda Smrz and Abigail Burstein.
Carole graduated from Galesburg High School in 1954. She graduated from Knox College with a bachelor's degree in 1958. She worked for the former Carson-Pirie-Scott and Company in Galesburg and then Kardan's in the Sandburg Mall. She later worked as a receptionist at Associated Bank in Galesburg until her retirement in 1999. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Galesburg, where she was a deacon. Carole was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority and a member of the Cameo Club in Galesburg. She was a volunteer at Community Treasures, formerly Cottage Corner.
