James Raymond Pickett, 72, of Centerville, TX passed away Monday, July 27, 2009 at his residence.

He was born in Horatio, Arkansas and was the son of the late Homer and Grace Ayers Pickett.

Mr. Pickett lived in Houston, TX most of his life and owned and operated Airline Exterminators since the 1950's until his retirement in 2002 when he moved to his country home in Centerville. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He loved his family and spending time with each one as well as hunting, fishing and traveling.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, James Raymond "Bubba" Pickett Jr.; son-in-law, Mike Myers; grandson-in-law, Kris McCall; brother and sister-in-law, Pete and Judy Pickett; brothers, J.D. Pickett, Roger Pickett; sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Cyril Gray; sister, Billie Jean Pickett; brother-in-law, Bobby Inge.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian Gurka Pickett of Centerville; daughters, LaShawn Myers of Houston, Jami Rene Pickett of Houston, Sheila Lynn (Mark) Minor of Houston; grandchildren, Christopher L. Pickett of Centerville, Melissa Myers McCall and fiance' Taylor Murchison of Centerville, Sasha Giovannelli of Houston; great grandchildren, Walyn Byron McCall of Centerville, Nolan Gordan Pickett and Celton James Pickett of Oklahoma City, OK; brother, Harlon (Georgetta) Pickett of Montgomery; sisters, Joann (James) McKnight of Kansas City, KS, Johnnie Inge of New Caney; sister-in-law, Marlene Pickett of Centerville; brother-in-law, Calvin (Sally) Gurka; sister-in-law, Marie (Freddie) Bauer; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends that loved him.

Funeral services were held at Walters Funeral Home on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Mac McCall officiating with burial following in North Creek Cemetery.

Pallbearers were his nephews Jimmy Pickett, Nicky Pickett, Larry Inge, Steve Inge, Joey Inge and Harlon Pickett, Jr.
