Mrs. Clarissa Andrus died last night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mortimer N. Cole, at Ivy Wild, Castile, from the effect of heart disease. Mrs. Andrus maiden name was Clarissa E. Billings and she was the daughter of Asa and Nancy Billings. She was born in Royalton, Vt., eighty eight years ago and was the last of a family of ten children, all of whom lived to be more than seventy years old.

Mrs. Andrus spent many years in Rochester and graduated from the high school there. She was the granddaughter of Governor Galusha and great grandaughter of Governor Chittenden and she traces her ancestry back to the eleventh century.

Mrs. Andrus was married in a little farmhouse on the west side of Silver Lake to Columbus P. Andrus in 1846.

Mr. Andrus died about three years ago. They celebrated their golden wedding in Perry, where they resided over fifty years. She was an active member of the First Baptist church for many years, of the Woman's Mission Circle and of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union.

Mrs. Andrus was one of the best known and most highly esteemed of the older residents of Castile and Perry. Four years ago Mrs. Cole gave a reception in honor of her parents sixtieth wedding anniversary. Mrs. Andrus won the prize the last Pioneer picnic at Silver Lake for being the oldest woman present and J. Russell Slade, who died last week, also won prize for being the oldest man present. Both were seated on the platform.

Nine years ago Mr. and Mrs Andrus came to Castile to reside with their daughter. The deceased leaves two daughters, Mrs. Cole and Mrs. J. W. Graves, of Detroit, Mich. and one grandson, Lawrence Cole.

Tie Rev. George K. Hamilton will conduct the funeral service at the house Friday at 2 o'clock. The burial was in the Perry cemetery.
