Funeral services for Mrs. Elsie Claudene Daniels Spurlock Melton, 92 of Bloomington Springs, will be held Friday November 14 2014 in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cope Cemetery in the Monroe community of Pickett Co.
Mrs. Melton died Monday morning November 10, 2014 in Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
She was born September 11, 1922 in Clay County, TN to the late Louis Clyde and Pearl Ann Collins Daniels.
Mrs. Melton left Tennessee at the start of WWII, and moved to Michigan to work as a ‘Rosie the Riveter.’ She later owned a beauty salon in Pontiac, MI before moving back to Tennessee in 1967.
She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 40 years, Revel (nmn) Spurlock and by her second husband of 17 years, Malcolm S. Melton; two sisters, Laura Mae Miller and Alice Walker; and by four brothers, Tommy, A.E. (Dick), Joe and Gene Daniels.
She is survived by one daughter and his wife, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three sister, one brother-in-law, one brother and his wife..
