Photos have been rearranged--I agree that the marker photo should be on top. As for death certificates, they are allowed, so it wouldn't really matter if I liked it or not. But thanks for asking--and I do like them. I don't really understand why some folks don't. I could see if it was a recent death with unusual circumstances--but I think every state has at least a fifty year waiting period before they are made public, so by then most folks who might have been involved will also be on Find A Grave.

RE: 71282631 Jerry Doyle Atkinson
Hi Susan,
I apologize for not replying right away. Too many emails.

Do you have Ancestry? That's a good website to do research, besides the Internet. That's my source (born in Auburn, AL) along with the rest of the information provided below. There was probably additional information about him, but I did a limited search.

Here's what I'm sending you about him if you want to use anything.
Please do accept my Edit of him being born in Auburn, AL.

Jerry was the son of Mary Francis Segrest and Robert P Atkins of Auburn, AL. (His parents might have gotten a divorce and him and his mother moved to CA?).
Jerry enlisted in the Marines 29 June 1965, at a
Los Angeles Recruiting Office.
He met Suzanne Mcaffee and they were married 6 September 1967 in Monterrey, CA. (by this time Jerry had been serving in the Marines for two years)
Jerry arrived in Vietnam 27 September 1968 and was assigned to Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 27th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. Lcpl Roger Thomas Brown from Kittanning PA and Corp Atkinson died as a result of fragmentation wounds to the head and body from hostile mortar fire while in a night defensive position in the vicinity of Ba Tung, six kilometers southeast of the Danang Airfield Base.
Survived by his widow,Suzanne M Atkinson and his son of 26359 Eshelmen Ave, Lomita, his mother, Mary Francis S Atkinson of 4608 W 173rd St, Lomita, CA and his father Robert P Atkinson of Mobile, AL.

His mother was born in Auburn, AL and died 8 March 2008 in San Diego, CA.
His father was born in W Virginia and died 20 October 1983 in Mobile, AL.

Hi Susan. I'm sending an Edit request on this one, and just wanted you to know that the CADI says she died on 10/5/1975 and the cemetery record says 10/8/1975. I think that 10/8 was probably the interment date.

Best regards,

Last name correction
Hi Susan,

I was able to link the kids. So I'm just requesting the last names on the Pa'ala memorials to be fixed.... Thanks!!

Please link children...
Hi Susan,

I notice you guys maintain the graves of Aumua Pa'ala #72133807 and Lemalie Pa'ala # 72148359. There are 3 children already linked to them. Can you please link my aunties (Their daughter's to them). They are Noela Fa'apusa Pa'ala Auva'a #1811361 and Lafoina Sulufa'iga "Babee" Pa'ala # 157737437. Can you please correct the Pa'ala last name by including the ' in between the a's. It is a Samoan last name and should be written as such. Thank you.

RE: question help please
Hi Susan. I believe they should contact the cemetery, rather than the mortuary, and ask to speak with any memorial counsel. It is better to purchase it through the cemetery, rather than an outside vendor, because even though it is sometimes cheaper, the materials may not be up to the cemetery's standard and they can refuse to set it. Not only that, the cemetery charges a "setting fee" so if you buy from an outside vendor, you still need to pay the cemetery their fee. What a racket -- but that's how they make money!

Hi Susan,

You are very welcome. Yes, it's hard to be in two places at once, that's against the laws of physics!

I'm glad to help in any way I can. Just let me know when it's okay to work on edits again, I'll just wait for you to tell me.

I hope you are having good weather. It wasn't too bad today but still pretty cold, with snow.

Take care and try to get some rest!

Your friend,

Hi Susan,

I will hold off and just wait to hear from you when things get caught up more. You can let me know.

I'm glad that you read my article and enjoyed it. The newspaper publishes quite a few things that I write, and I'm working on a book.

4 little grandsons sound like fun! I have 4 grandsons, ages 29, 28, 25, and 16, and 1 granddaughter, age 20, and 2 little great-granddaughters. I think they keep us young!

Well, my dear friend, good luck to you with all the edits and emails, I hope you get caught up soon. But I will not send any more edits until I hear from you. Take care and enjoy the boys!

Occasionally I have trouble sending edits because of the stupid pop-up that I can't get past.

Just wanted to check if you have info on Kenneth and Norma Most, if they are married (in Eventide Terrace 173A and 173B.)

I have an article published in the newspaper today if you would want to read it if you get time. It's on the Opinion page at It's about the retirement of Dr. Phil Ball.

Thanks, talk to you soon!

RE: Merry Christmas
Thank you, my friend. My son and brother are healing and I thank God.

I have been trying to send you a couple of messages in the last 20 minutes to have you check on a couple of things, but when I use the option about suggestions (the last option on the edit page), I type my question and then click on I am not a robot. Usually a green check mark will appear and I can send the message. But now some stupid pop-up about a game appears and it won't go away so I can send the message. Do you know what that is and how I can get rid of it? Here are my 2 questions:

Do you have any records to indicate that Raleigh Pryor (Grace Lawn 8B) was married to Adelyn Pryor (Grace Lawn 8C), so they can be linked?

Also, do you have any records to indicate that Etta Greaser (Ocean View 155H) was married to Ira Greaser (Ocean View 155G), so they can be linked?

Please let me know if you know how to get rid of the pop-up that sometimes appears in the message box, it is driving me crazy!

Thank you for all your help.

RE: Merry Christmas
Thank you, my dear friend. My brother is out of intensive care and home now, but it is a slow healing process for him. We are all helping him as much as we can. My son, who is 50 years old, is also home from the hospital. The internal bleeding was caused by a sneeze that ruptured a big blood vessel in his side. He still has a humongous bruise from his belly all around toward his back. I never heard of that before. It is called rectus sheath hematoma, and it caused a huge bleed in his left side. I really missed sending the edits to you so will start again today and will not send more than 30 a day. And if that's too many, please let me know. Please take care of yourself and I am so glad that we work so well together, it is a real joy.

Have a beautiful day!

P.S.: We are supposed to get some snow tonight, the first we have had. Usually here in Indiana it starts snowing in November and snows up until April sometimes. So we have been lucky so far.
